Saturday, January 12th, 2008
ACDSee is the best image viewer software out there. But of course I don’t want to use the latest version of the software because it’s already a hog. So I tried various image editing software applications. First I tried out Irfanview, a free image viewer application. Another Great app but I can’t drag out the image [...]

In Windows XP there’s no such thing as “Always on Top”. I wonder why because as I use some distribution of Linux, this feature is always available. I need this kind of feature if your copying some things in other windows. So again I Googled it. I saw this great app here. Namely OnTop. It is [...]

I’ve been hit by SSCVIIHOST.exe! huhu

Friday, December 28th, 2007

The other day, I was hit by SSCVIIHOST.exe because my friends just plugged their USB in my laptop and wallah, it already started propagating. At that time I can’t run Task Manager, Regedit, and Folder Options. Hmmm, my system is very vulnerable. Wonder why? hehe.

In my laptop I don’t consider installing any anti-virus and anti-spyware because it will just eat some huge amount of my resources. Having an anti-virus running all the time means that everything you do or every move you make will take the processing longer because the AV will first check if it has some malicious files. That alone will take processing much longer. Much more in my laptop which has 512mb RAM, huhu.

So yesterday, here at Amigoas Cafe. I googled SSCVIIHOST.exe as I was very eager to fix the problem. Until I found this site. Following some steps there made my system back to normal again.

Wheeeeew! At first I thought I’m going to reinstall everything in this system. But now, I’m again.. weeee!

free light weight apps for windows…

Friday, November 23rd, 2007

We cannot deny the fact that sometimes we use M$ Windows for specific job or task. I’ve been a linux user for some quite time now, and i used to select light apps for my box since I have a 10 year old PC still in use. (An AMD K6-2 450mhz with 128mb ram, 8gb HD running Debian Etch, use it for developing apps until now.. I dont bother to buy one, unless im forced (again) to learn .NET crap).. I used Windows 2000, since it require less hardware requirements, and i think its secure enough, bugs are fixed through M$ Security Patches A.K.A Service Packs.. :)

Here’s The List: (Background Music: Korn - Fake - 1994)
